Position Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Concept Artist to join our team. The ideal candidate is a talented creative mind who can set a high bar for quality, consistency, and creative vision. You will play a key role in defining and maintaining the visual style and artistic vision of our projects, focusing on concept design that emphasizes a strong understanding of shapes, iteration, function, and storytelling. You should be able to convey visual ideas efficiently through both quick sketches and detailed 2D and 3D concepts. Applicants should submit a resume and current portfolio of work. Qualified applicants may be expected to complete a small art test.
Responsibilities
Create original and imaginative concept designs for environments, characters, props, and other assets that will inspire the team and set the tone of our projects.
Focus on design, function, and storytelling, ensuring that each concept serves a purpose within the game's narrative and gameplay mechanics.
Iterate on designs to explore multiple solutions and refine concepts to achieve the desired function and aesthetic.
Solve a wide variety of visual problems, from designing functional assets to finding visual solutions that enhance gameplay.
Work closely with the Art Director and other artists to define and maintain the visual style of the project.
Collaborate with the team to establish the mood, look, and feel of our projects.
Proactively seek feedback and communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
Contribute innovative ideas and creative artistic concepts.
Participate in regular team meetings.
Prioritize tasks according to timelines and deliver work on schedule.
Adapt to specific art styles when required.
Requirements
Minimum of 4+ years of experience as a Concept Artist or in a relevant field.
Strong understanding of design principles, including shape language, composition, iteration, function, and storytelling.
Proficient in creating high-quality concept designs for various game asset disciplines (characters, environments, hard surface vs. organic, VFX, etc.).
Skills in 3D Concept Art; experience with Blender, ZBrush, or 3D Coat is a huge plus.
In-depth knowledge of game art development technologies, terminology, and techniques.
Ability to quickly learn new processes and software as needed.
Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
Proficient in English, both verbal and written.
Strong skills in digital art-making tools and software, with at least one area of focus or specialization.
Experience working in an iterative, agile environment.
Self-directed, enthusiastic, and open to feedback.
Familiarity with the games industry and an appreciation for innovative games.
Bonus Skills
Experience with real-time and emerging technologies; concepting in Unreal Engine.
Ability to closely adapt to specific art styles.
Keen eye for composition, shape, color, and detail.
Understanding of next-gen asset creation.
Ability to understand and articulate the elements of good design to achieve quality CGI images.
