Job Description

With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games. As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for a Senior Character Artist to join the team and help us in crafting the high calibre games our fans have come to expect.

Responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality 3D character models based on concept art and design briefs.
  • Sculpt, model, and texture realistic characters, creatures, and armor sets.
  • Collaborate closely with concept artists, art directors, and technical artists to ensure characters meet artistic and technical standards.
  • Optimize character assets for performance while maintaining artistic integrity.
  • Provide feedback and mentorship to junior artists and help uphold the team’s quality bar.
  • Contribute to character pipelines, documentation, and best practices.
  • Work with animation and rigging teams to ensure proper deformation and functionality.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Character Artist in creative industries.
  • Expert knowledge of character modeling, sculpting, and texturing pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of human and creature anatomy, form, and proportions.
  • Strong proficiency in ZBrush, Maya or Blender, and Substance Painter.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality realistic character art.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Willing to work onsite in Studio.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience working in the gaming industry, using industry-standard engines (e.g. Unreal, Unity, Frostbite).
  • Familiarity with Marvelous Designer, Houdini, or other specialized tools.
  • Experience creating hair and fur using modern workflows.
  • An academic background in traditional art, anatomy, or sculpting.
  • Strong interest in worldbuilding, character storytelling, and design aesthetics.
  • Leadership experience or mentoring skills.
