Your Mission:

As our Japanese Language Specialist, you will:

  • Own the quality and consistency of all Japanese content for Call of Duty - gameplay, in-game UI, multiplayer, live events, and marketing assets.
  • Drive transformation through AI and automation, implementing post-editing, translation, and review workflows.
  • Partner with Project Management, Localisation QA, and other Language Specialists to ensure content is authentic, player-focused, and on-brand.
  • Serve as an expert for terminology, style, and cultural adaptation for internal teams and external vendors.
  • Propose workflow and technology improvements, participate in feedback and change initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Localise Call of Duty content (game, in-game text, audio scripts, live events, and marketing) from English to Japanese, using traditional translation and post-editing workflows.

  • Maintain and evolve translation assets (glossary, termbase, translation memories, and style guides).
  • Participate in team reviews, feedback loops, and continuous improvement cycles while experimenting with new tools and workflows.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Japanese Translator/Language Specialist, ideally in the games industry.
  • Experience in post-editing and reviewing MT output is highly desirable.
  • Experience using memoQ or other CAT tools.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and AI-driven workflows is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English.
  • Strong creative writing and localisation adaptation skills.
  • Familiarity with shooter games, multiplayer, and live content is an advantage.
  • Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn, adapt, and experiment.
  • Understanding of cultural sensitivities and the gaming market in Japan.
  • Enthusiasm for AI, automation, and driving positive change.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Deliver authentic, high-quality Japanese content that is player-first and on-brand.
  • Diagnose bottlenecks, flag blockers, and work with the team to raise standards and improve processes.
  • Embrace and help drive transformation toward AI-powered localisation, seeking smarter, faster ways to work.
  • Be a trusted voice in the team, supporting colleagues, sharing ideas, and contributing to continuous learning and improvement.
