Position:

Engineering Manager

Join GOG - Where Games Live Forever

We're GOG - a global gaming platform connecting millions of players with the games they love. As part of the CD PROJEKT Group (The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077), we build technology that keeps great games alive and accessible for generations.

The Product Engineering team is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead us into 2026 and beyond. Your team is responsible for GOG's web platform - the foundation that powers how millions of gamers discover, purchase, and play their favorite titles.

Why this role exists:

At GOG, engineers don’t just ship code - they build products that shape how millions of gamers experience and rediscover the titles they love. To make that possible, we need leaders who combine technical depth, delivery discipline, product focus, and people leadership.

As Engineering Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in leading a talented team of engineers. Working alongside your counterparts in Product, Design, and Data, you'll help us design, build, and deliver the right features with the right level of quality, while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage your team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality delivery. You'll be deeply involved in technical decisions, architecture reviews, and engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to prioritize work and maintain a roadmap that aligns with business priorities, using data analysis (e.g. DORA metrics) to inform prioritization and resource allocation.
  • Ensure the team operates with speed, resilience, and reliability, meeting GOG's engineering standards. This involves using all means at your disposal - from people and processes to automation.
  • Provide timely reporting of delivery progress against commitments, dependencies, issues, risks, and proactive mitigations. Surface problems early, escalate before they become fires.
  • Encourage lean approaches such as MVP and A/B testing to ensure we deliver the right experiences for millions of gamers worldwide.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to own and evolve their ways of working. Provide support and development through effective 1-1s, honest feedback, and career growth planning.
  • Collaborate with other leaders across GOG to share learnings, align architectural decisions, and continuously raise the engineering bar.

Success Looks Like:

Month 3:

  • All engineers have quarterly goals aligned to the product roadmap
  • Team has predictable delivery (±10% variance)
  • You've identified and resolved the top team friction points

Month 6:

  • Team cycle time measurably improved
  • Zero surprise deadline misses (early escalation working)
  • 2+ engineers visibly upleveled

Month 12:

  • Delivery predictability: 90%+ commitments met
  • Team consequently meets product goals and learns from failures

Job Requirements:

Who You Are

  • You have demonstrable success in engineering management and leadership, with 4+ years managing delivery-focused teams (5-10 people) and 5+ years as a software engineer before that (ideally in e-commerce, B2C, or gaming).
  • You have an experienced understanding of software engineering practices and agile methodologies and can discuss pros and cons of common approaches (examples: Angular vs React, monoliths vs microservices, trunk-based development vs feature branches). The tech stack at GOG includes Angular and PHP/Symfony.
  • Your leadership and communication skills enable you to drive clarity and insight across diverse audiences - from engineers to executives. You can inspire and motivate your team toward shared vision and goals.
  • You can discuss your experiences working with cross-functional teams and managing complex projects, sharing both what has worked well and reflecting on what has not. You've improved team velocity without burnout and coached engineers through performance issues.
  • You're comfortable with data - DORA metrics, sprint analytics, team health signals - and use it to inform decisions, not just report status.

Why Join GOG:

Real autonomy:

  • Own your product engineering area end-to-end
  • Small enough to move fast (startup energy), big enough to matter globally (millions of users)
  • Direct access to leadership - your voice shapes company direction
  • Budget for team growth, tools, and professional development

Work that matters:

  • Build products used by millions of gamers worldwide
  • Preserve gaming history - make classics playable on modern systems
  • Part of CD PROJEKT Group (work alongside Witcher/Cyberpunk teams)
  • Direct user feedback - see your impact in community forums and reviews

Engaging Technical Challenges:

  • Modern platform serving millions of concurrent users
  • Angular, PHP (Symfony), microservices
  • Real problems: performance at scale, backward compatibility, legacy integration
  • Complex domain: DRM-free distribution, multi-platform support, game preservation

Team you'll actually enjoy:

  • Team of talented engineers who care about craft
  • Passionate gamers who love what they build
  • No death marches - sustainable pace is non-negotiable
  • Located across Warsaw with hybrid flexibility

What we offer:

  • Competitive Salary – 22 000 - 33 000 PLN / month
