Team / Role:
Engineering team — Mission Product Team
We’re looking for a Product Engineering Team Lead to act as the driver of product delivery, ensuring the team ships impactful features on time and at high quality while working closely with Product Management and Design.
Why this role exists:
Engineers at GOG shape products used by millions. This role ensures product teams deliver with clarity, speed, and quality, balancing day-to-day delivery, evolving engineering practices, and creating an environment where developers can do their best work. You’ll be both a technical partner (hands-on when needed) and a people leader (mentoring, growing, and aligning the team), while driving collaboration with Product and Design.
What success looks like in the first 6–12 months:
- Delivery is predictable and transparent, with improvements visible in metrics like DORA/SPACE.
- The team operates as a high-performing unit with strong ownership, collaboration, and clear accountability.
- Product priorities are well aligned with technical feasibility through partnership with Product and Design.
- Players experience tangible improvements in preservation and community features, shipped reliably and at high quality.
- Team members receive regular, constructive feedback, show visible growth, and feel safe to innovate and challenge ideas.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Lead planning, resourcing, and execution of delivery, ensuring clarity of goals and responsibilities.
- Collaborate daily with Product and Design to shape priorities and translate them into actionable engineering work.
- Stay hands-on when needed — contribute to frontend (Angular), backend (PHP), or architectural discussions.
- Facilitate retrospectives and feedback sessions, coaching the team to continuously improve.
- Promote engineering best practices (scout rule, code reviews, testing, performance focus) and ensure they are consistently applied.
Requirements / What will help you succeed:
- 3+ years leadership experience as an Engineering/Team Lead, with a proven record of building and guiding cross-functional teams.
- 5+ years as a software engineer in e-commerce, B2C, or gaming.
- At least 2 years hands-on expertise in frontend (Angular) or backend (PHP7/8, ideally Symfony).
- Proven ability to design and implement solutions in complex systems, including architectural decisions.
- Excellent communication skills; able to give clear, caring feedback and challenge the status quo when needed.
- Experience with mentoring, performance management, and career development.
- Customer-focused — anchor technical decisions in product outcomes.
- Fluency in English and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Passion for games and the gaming industry.
- Experience in product-led companies and working with high-scale web applications (listed as additional desirable experience).
Values / How we work:
- Play to Win – Define success, move fast, set a high bar.
- Navigate the Fog – Don’t wait for perfect clarity; try, learn, adapt.
- Step Up or Team Up – Lead by action and collaboration.
- (Re)Master Your Game – Own your growth and share what you learn.
- Leave Your Mark – Build things that last.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Remuneration: 20 000 - 30 000 PLN/month, depending on experience.
- Hybrid work model: presence in the Warsaw office several times a month (1–3 days per week).
- Access to a health care and sports activities package, including free psychologist appointments.
- Possibility to take paid Menstrual Leave for all menstruating employees.
- Active employee networks for LGBTQIA+ employees, women of GOG and parents.
