    About Playfocus

    Playfocus is one of the studios whose cool games SayGames publishes. It's a small but super-driven team with senior-level skills that has been making great games for over 3 years. Currently, their main project is King or Fail (iOS, Android), with a couple of new games also in development.

    They're looking to expand their team with Game Designers to work on core, meta, content, and monetization of existing and new games.

    Responsibilities

    We'll have a super match if you recognize yourself in one or more of these descriptions:

    • You're a level design maniac. You can create an atmospheric level with a small set of assets and ensure comfortable player navigation. You want to grow and level up in this area.

    • You're a story maniac. You can come up with interesting characters, their relationships, and describe dialogues in a way that engages any player. You want to grow and level up in this area.

    • You're a systems maniac. You can create and calculate complex systems of characteristics, rewards, activities. As a hobby, you've built models for calculating complex MMOs or strategies. You want to grow and level up in this area.

    Requirements

    Main requirements

    • 2+ years of commercial experience working on Hypercasual, Idle Arcade, Midcore projects

    • Completed projects

    • Excellent knowledge of Unity - ability to build a level, understanding of prefab system, component approach, typical tools (animator, cinemachine, etc.)

    • Excellent knowledge of Spreadsheets and principles of working with balance tables

    • Basic knowledge of Figma, Miro, or other information processing tools

    Competencies

    • Confident understanding and practical application of game design principles. Experience in building and balancing game cycles

    • Experience in designing features for meta-game, calculating medium-term and long-term progression

    • Ability to qualitatively set up flow - sequence of events and game difficulty

    • Experience in creating prototypes

    • Experience in building onboarding

    • Understanding of basics of player psychology and motivation

    • Good understanding of mathematics, basic understanding of probability theory

    • Ability to learn independently and constantly, understand new things

    • Ability to easily convey thoughts

    • Correctly perceive feedback

    • Ability to choose what's important

    • Ability to work quickly and in an organized manner
