Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Build the 3D visual quality benchmark in a PBR pipeline to ensure the whole progress and quality delivery.
- Create realistic 3D models and textures including assets, creatures and characters in accordance with the artistic direction, production deadlines and technical specifications.
- Drive and maintain the high visual quality of models, inspiring and aligning with the project vision.
- Work with other teams (TA, animator, GD, etc.) to create and test placeholder models for early game investigation.
- Partner with other departments (such as concept and VFX, TA, etc.) to improve the art quality, develop art style, adopt new techniques, tools, and optimize workflow.
- Detect potential risks in production and work with partners to come up with mitigation plans.
- Mentor and train other 3D artists for both internal and external teams.
- Deliver feedback to internal and external teams to maintain art style understanding and quality optimization for the project.
- Guide suppliers in properly executing the production specifications required for different projects (e.g., resource allocation for model and UV, correct processing of texturing and materials).
Qualifications:
- 5+ years proven experience in AAA game production as a 3D artist (outsourcing experience acceptable).
- At least one completed project production experience.
- Excellent knowledge of real-time modeling techniques (shaders, PBR, normal, displacement, etc.).
- Excellent understanding of human anatomy and creature structure, hard surface modeling, fabric sculpting.
- Ability to create 3D related assets which feel "true nature" through texturing.
- Solid artistic skill and creativity (shape language, silhouette, color theory).
- Ability to both work independently and on a team.
- Relevant software proficiencies: ZBrush, 3ds Max, Maya, Substance Painter, Photoshop, XGen.
- Strong portfolio showing 3D art skills and demonstrating a high level of artistic creativity.
- Inquisitive nature and a strong interest in the video games industry.
- Awareness of cutting-edge industry art software and technology to improve production quality and efficiency.
