About the role:
Anshar Studios is looking for a talented Senior/Expert Gameplay Programmer (Specialized in PCG) to join our team developing games in Unreal Engine. In this role, you will design and build procedural content generation systems and tools that empower designers and artists to create rich, varied game worlds.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of procedural generation systems, tools, and related sub-systems.
- Design game code architecture for procedural pipelines, from data authoring to runtime generation.
- Develop and implement procedural content generation features in Unreal Engine.
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and other programmers to ensure procedural systems serve the creative vision and are easy to work with.
- Conduct discussions with other programmers to provide the best technical solutions.
- Actively troubleshoot technical questions or potential issues, preventing bottlenecks in production.
- Provide regular guidance to other programmers, ensuring all teams produce code that is sound, efficient, and maintainable.
- Optimize and debug generation code to ensure performance, stability, and deterministic results where required.
- Contribute to the overall game design and vision.
- Create informative and helpful technical and process documentation.
- Demonstrate care and commitment to quality software development.
Requirements:
- At least 6 years of experience as an Unreal Engine programmer, including experience as a gameplay programmer.
- Ability to design systemic solutions which balance generality of use with fast changeability.
- Knowledge of various procedural concepts and algorithms (e.g., noise functions, grammars, graph- and rule-based generation).
- Solid understanding of randomness and determinism in games.
- Familiarity with game design concepts.
- Aptitude for communicating well with non-technical developers.
- Capacity for a comprehensive view of a large project.
- Credited as a programmer in at least 2 commercial video games.
- Strong knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming.
- Considerable math skills (geometry, linear algebra, probability).
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and profiling skills.
- Inquiring, reliable, organized.
- Strong team communication and teamwork skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Advanced English (B2/C1 level).
- Communicative Polish (B1/B2 level).
- Experienced in game creation processes and pipelines.
- Passion for video games.
Pluses:
- Experience with Unreal's PCG framework.
- Experience with Unreal networking framework and multiplayer game development (including deterministic generation in networked contexts).
- Familiarity with data-driven and functional styles of programming.
- Experience building in-editor tools for designers and artists (editor scripting, Slate/UMG, Blueprint-exposed workflows).
- A shipped title featuring significant procedural content.
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems.
- Proficient in OOP, SOLID, and design patterns.
- Fluent English (C1/C2 level) noted as an additional plus in some parts of the posting.
Salary:
Wage 10 000 up to 26 000 PLN gross (depending on skills and experience).
